Lizzie Pogson's sound art practice involves the collection of field recordings and abstraction of this material to create discrete zones of aural experience. By juxtaposing natural and synthetic sound material in different combinations recorded natural spaces act as environments for the inclusion of synthetic sounds and vice versa.
Lizzie has exhibited and performed her compositions in the Melbourne International Arts Festival, Liquid Architecture Festival, West Space Gallery (Melbourne) and at Project Space Gallery (RMIT, Melbourne) for the group show 'Magnetic Traces' in 2010. In 2008 she collaborated with sound artist Philip Samartzis for a live multichannel performance, and in 2009 she performed with Camilla Hannan for a performance on an 'acousmonium' that was set-up at Northcote Town Hall (Melbourne). Most recently, Lizzie had a work in the 'Hatched' exhibition at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (April/May) and was commissioned to write a new composition for the Parisonic Festival to be held in Paris (June 2011).
Lizzie lives in beautiful regional Victoria.
