DAVID SHEA + KRISTI MONFRIES (US/VIC)

Celebrated Manhattan/ Melbourne based composer David Shea was throughout the mid and late 80’s often associated with the New York downtown experimental music scene. He has collaborated with the likes of John Zorn, Marc Ribot and Ikue Mori. Utilising samplers, live musicians, turntables, drum machines, sequencers and vocal techniques David conjures complex amalgamations of genres and cultural references. http://www.dshea.net

Kristi Monfries' artistic practice includes independent curating, collage work, appropriation pieces, video and live video improv, photography and design. She is concerned with an independent and whole artistic approach to living, feminine identity, media gathering and re-invention, new and old technologies, explorations of sexuality and media research.
