Antarctic Convergence is a program specially curated by Lawrence English and Philip Samartzis drawing on a range of Australian and international artists who have undertaken fieldwork in various locations throughout Antarctica. The program will comprise live performance works presented in surround sound; an exhibition of spatial-temporal works; and a screening program of documentaries about Antarctica.
Lizzie Pogson's sound art practice involves the collection of field recordings and abstraction of this material to create discrete zones of aural experience. By juxtaposing natural and synthetic sound material in different combinations recorded natural spaces act as environments for the inclusion of synthetic sounds and vice versa.
