Liquid Architecture and Soft Centre present: Budots to Post-Budots: Origins, Technique, Mutation, a hybrid lecture, listening session, and production-demonstration workshop tracing Budots from its roots in Davao City to its evolving life as a hyperlocal, internet-native, and globally resonant electronic music form.

Led by DJ Love (Sherwin), one of the pioneering figures behind Budots and co-founder of the Camusboyz Budots dance group, the first part of the workshop grounds participants in the genre’s lived history: its movement culture, community context, early circulation, sonic markers, and production language. This section introduces participants to the foundations of Budots, including its rhythms, loops, “tiw-tiw” sounds, dance energy, and playful technical logic.

The second part, led by obese.dogma777 / Jorge Wieneke, extends Budots into the idea of Post-Budots: a framework for respectfully mutating, reimagining, and evolving hyperlocal club forms within contemporary electronic music, deconstructed club, rave, experimental sound design, and global club contexts.

The workshop is designed to be accessible and engaging for both music practitioners and culturally curious participants. Rather than requiring individual laptop setups, the session will focus on a big-screen demonstration and shared listening format. Participants can access a Budots sample pack / resource kit after the session so they can continue experimenting independently.
