Am not I, who thanks to owning a car, capable of all that the human heart longs for? Does not a car possess all human capacities? Does not my car, therefore transform all my incapacities into their contrary?

DAVID CHESWORTH is an artist and composer, known for his experimental, and at times minimalist music, who has worked with electronics, contemporary ensembles, film, theatre and experimental opera. Together with Sonia Leber, Chesworth has created installation artworks using sound, video, architecture and public participation. Exhibitions include ‘56th Venice Biennale (2015), ‘19th Biennale of Sydney (2014), ‘Melbourne Now’, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (2013-14). Festivals featuring Chesworth’s music and sound works include Ars Electronica, Festival D’Automne de Paris, Bang on a Can Marathon, New York, Sydney Biennale, Adelaide and Melbourne Festivals and MONA FOMA. Early in his career he was co-founder of post-punk band Essendon Airport and for five years was coordinator of the Clifton Hill Community Music Centre in Melbourne. David Chesworth joined the Liquid Architecture Board in 2015.

OK EG, a project of Melbourne based producers Lauren Squire and Matthew Wilson generates spaces between hypnotic polyrythms and lush ambiance by mixing experimental music and visual art. Taking an improvisational approach to live techno, they draw from natural textural soundscapes to speculate on rich sonic worlds of inhabitation. Their first release, Pebble Beach was mastered by Italian techno legend Neel and features recordings from their set at Dark Mofo festival.

David Chesworth performs ‘50 Synthesizer Greats’, the 1978 album of delicately patterned, compact and complex compositions. Rarely performed, highly regarded.

Lauren Squire and Matthew Wilson, OK EG present a new experimental composition on the EMS Synthi A, an iconic synthesiser of the MESS collection from 1971.

Delving deep into the research and practice of artists intimately involved with Liquid Architecture, this night celebrates the continuum of our local experimental and electronic music community across 50 years of expanding horizons.
