CONTINGENT AGENCIES

Contingent Agencies is an artistic research project initiated by Nikolaus Gansterer and Alex Arteaga to inquire into a subject matter that is denominated with various terms as moods, places, environments or atmospheres. Each situation is endowed with a particular atmosphere. Each circumstance brings about a specific environment: a significant but non-objectified, precise but vague, ephemeral and enveloping presence. This project aims at developing specific practices of notation and reflection that allow for a more comprehensive understanding of how the agencies enable the emergence of these kind of presences. After an internal workshop, where practices of notation and reflection were applied in resonance with the atmosphere of Collingwood Yards by a group of invited researchers the findings of the workshop will be dialogically shared with an open audience.

EACH SOUND WAS A RUNG

Mel Deerson: 'Over the past two years I started making songs for myself and my therapist to listen to, to soothe or express myself. Each sound was a rung is a small collection of those songs.

ASYNCHRONOUS SCREENING

Curated by Anabelle Lacroix as a public program out of sync with its exhibition, this screening also explores the space for rhythming otherwise as a curatorial methodology.Freedom of Sleep launched in October 2019, unfolded on Liquid Architecture’s Disclaimer and an exhibition at Fondation Fiminco in Paris in May 2021. What are the affordances of rhythming otherwise? Programmed out of time, this screening and discussion is part of Freedom of Sleep, an ongoing project that investigates night-time and sleeplessness as forms of dissent, spaces for self-transformation, awakening and action. In the face of a blinding society running uninterrupted 24 hours a day, this curatorial research aims to reflect upon the desynchronisation of bodies through their relations to norms, productivity, efficiency, attention, distraction, alertness, free time and inertia, as well as through movements of awakening, setting or falling.
