Mara MacDonald is a performer and sound artist based in Melbourne. In her work, alien textures and algorithmic improvisation combine to create a soundscape simultaneously inhuman and deeply personal. Her multimedia sound shows, all built around live collaboration with livecoding and synthesis, have been performed across Melbourne from art galleries to dive bars. Born on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people/Perth (1993), Dante’s background began with an interest in photography and a fascination with technology, undertaking their Bachelor of Arts at RMIT in 2014, exhibiting their first work within CCP for their Salon program, winning Best Use of Digital Media. After, they undertook a three-month artist residency in Kyoto, Japan, sponsored by Arts Yosuga, transitioning from photography to more of a digital existential landscape, using mediums of illustration and video.
Returning to Melbourne in 2018, they returned to work in portraiture photography and admin whilst volunteering as a Gallery Assistant and tech at Neon Parlour. After working in these positions for two years, Dante decided to return to university to expand their knowledge and practice, where they took up a passion for researching Queer Theory. During a year of studying their Honours in Fine Art at RMIT, they delved into modes of self-exploration and transition, exhibiting their Sound and Performance work Temperamental Crossroads, receiving the Liquid Architecture Prize for Ambient Sound awarded by Joel Stern, and the Joel Elenberg Award of Excellence awarded by Prof Callum Morton and Anna Schwartz, as well as receiving a 1st Class in Honours.
Through 2022, Dante aims to continue their work in exciting new spaces, researching queer philosophies and expressions, awarded a Residency Program with Holly Goodridge for RMIT Situate, where they will continue to exhibit their work.

Sow Discord has extracted the urgency, dissonance and brutality of Heavy music and seamlessly blended it with his interest in Electronic composition. Sow Discord is a cavernous, bass heavy unrelenting sonic animal, born from a dense, complex and hyper detailed construction of samples, Explosive kick drums, Guitars and and junk percussion, that are constantly changing shape, Imploding and turning themselves inside out, creating entirely new landscapes from within and around themselves. At times it is like watching a building crumble in slow motion, being fully aware of every small fragment of dust and debris suspended in air before it hits the ground, settling only briefly to rebuild itself and evolve into something even more ominous and foreboding \[Bandcamp]\(https://sowdiscord.bandcamp.com/)

π.o. is a beautiful man, a minor poet who is going to win the Nobel Prize for literature when he grows up.
Born in Greece, migrated to Australia aged 4. Resided at Bonegilla migrant camp near Albury / Wodonga. Grew up in the slums of Fitzroy & Collingwood before gentrification. His first magazine was “Fitzrot” – inaugurated “performance” &amp; “concrete” poetry in Australia. Other magazines through the years included “925” (a workers magazine of poetry – the largest small press magazine in Australia for 5 years), and “Unusual Work” which is still current and on to its 33 issue. In 1978 helped inaugurate the “Poets Union” across Australia. In 1980 was one of the editors of “Missing Forms” an anthology of visual and concrete poetry – that has been acknowledged world wide as Australia’s first such anthology. In 1986 to inaugurate the “Spoleto Festival” in Melbourne (that subsequently became the Melbourne International Writers Festival) read poetry all over the city on public transport and in the streets to herald its arrival. In 1985 he (with 4 others) toured the USA on a 16 city tour, a 200 page book of poetry (out this coming March 2023) by Giramondo called “The Dirty T-Shirt Tour”. Other invitations included Germany (the “Weltklang Festival” in Berlin 2003), Bangkok on 2 occasions 2004, and 2005, and in Medellin in Columbia in 1997. In 1979 was part of a TV documentary on Channel 0-28 (subsequently SBS) called “A Song for Melbourne”. Has appeared on TV a few other times also. Worked on ABC Radio National for a number of years presenting his poetry for various programs, and produced 2 radio documentaries “Bonegilla -- the migrant riots”. His first book was “Fitzroy Brothel” 1974. Subsequent books included “Street Singe”, “Panash”, “The Fitzroy Poems”, “The Fuck Poems”. “Big Numbers” (new & selected poems), “The Number Poems”, “24 Hours”, “Fitzroy – The Biography”, and “Heide” (with Giramondo) (which won the Judith Wright Calanthe award in 2020, and short listed for the Prime Minister's Literary Award for Poetry in the same year). In 1990, helped put together and perform in a play at the Wharf Theatre in Sydney called “Call It Poetry Tonight” that was subsequently filmed and screened on ABC TV. Has exhibited his visual poetry at “Heide” “Words On Walls” on 2 occasions 1985 & 2011, has also exhibited at the “Museum of Contemporary Art” in Sydney in 2009 “Avoiding Myth & Message”, and other self deployed initiatives around Melbourne. Was a guest writer at the University of Wollongong in 2004. Has given many lectures on poetry at Universities and schools, as well as various Prisons, in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney.
His last 3 books, were not just massive in size (epic in scale), but a real attempt at exploring the tradition of the epic in Australia. “24 Hours” (750 pages) explored “history” (in real time) in the inner suburb of Fitzroy (and environs) depicting the lives and languages and sounds of the migrants and lower classes in Fitzroy. “Fitzroy – the biography” (740 pages) traced the “historical” characters (some 300) that inhabited Fitzroy’s environs, tracing the incredible variety of peoples from the Indigenous to Europeans, and beyond. The 3rd book “Heide” (550 pages) traces the “history” of the Arts in Melbourne from the establishment of Melbourne (John Batman and partly bankrolled by Henry Reed) to the creation of a truly modernist tradition of poetry and painting emanating out of Melbourne. As you might imagine the amount of “historical research” is enormous. – The Author!
