Leah Barclay is an Australian sound artist, researcher and acoustic ecologist working at the intersection of art, science and technology. Her work has been commissioned, performed and exhibited to wide acclaim internationally by organisations including UNESCO, Ear to the Earth, the Smithsonian, Al Gore’s Climate Reality and the IUCN. Leah leads several large-scale research projects including Biosphere Soundscapes, an interdisciplinary venture exploring the changing soundscapes of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves and River Listening, which examines the future possibilities of freshwater ecoacoustics in collaboration with the Australian Rivers Institute. Leah is the President of the Australia Forum for Acoustic Ecology, the Vice President of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology and serves on the board of a range of arts and environmental organisations. She is currently a research fellow at Griffith University with the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre and Griffith Climate Change Response Program where she is leading a portfolio of research in acoustic ecology and climate action.

Monica Gagliano is an ecologist known for her research on plant intelligence. Gagliano is a Research Associate Professor in the field of evolutionary ecology at Southern Cross University in Lismore, Australia, where she directs the Biological Intelligence lab.

RENATA BUZIAK is a photo-media artist, who is passionate about physically engaging nature and organic processes in her interdisciplinary art practice. Her practice builds on alternative and experimental photography, includes intercultural and art-science research, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. For over a decade she has been developing an image making process- the biochrome, by fusing organic and photographic materials. 

Renata’s recent PhD studio research focused on local Australian healing plants significant to the Quandamooka Peoples of Minjerribah/North Stradbroke Island. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, nationally and internationally, received a number of art awards, and features in private and public collections.

re-calling - re-hearing - re-mapping - re-contextualising - de-colonising and re-instating on country that which was denied

Libby Harward is a Quandamooka artist of Moreton Bay in Queensland, and a descendent of the Ngugi people from Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) living in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. She works as both a solo street artist and a conceptual visual artist. Libby works under the pseudonym of 'Mz Murricod' in her Graffiti art practice, however her new aerosol works have been strongly informed by her more recent conceptual/ephemeral earth-based practice. Documented in film and still image, Libby's ephemeral works operate in an intertidal zone engaging a continual process of re-calling - re-hearing - re-mapping - re-contextualising -de-colonising and re-instating on country that colonisation has denied to indigenous people. Libby's work engages traditional custodians in their evolution on mainland country which has become highly urbanised and calls for an artistic response that seeks to uncover and reinstate the cultural significance of place, which always was, and remains to be there.
