In the first of our concert series of the year, Liquid Architecture presents a two-part performance and expanded piano recital; a shifting harmonic cloud by composer and instrumentalist James Rushford.
Collaging simultaneous multiple compositions from his signature electro-acoustic practice of the past fifteen years, Rushford will intricately weave together these works alongside esoteric composers of the twentieth century. Here, Rushford conjures a series of sonic footnotes that drift us across the liminal space of the nocturne, a composition evocative of the night. In these newly imagined (re)works, Rushford fuses his conceptual approach and virtuosic technique to untangle and tease out the ending of cycles, mystical fervor, and a deep melancholy inherent thematically and sonically in post-Romantic music.
