Featuring three newly-commissioned sound works by Markus Rumbino (Papua), Rani Jambak (Sumatra) and Isobel D’Cruz Barnes (Australia/Malaysia), this space invites you to explore the hidden stories of sound and place—from the hum of urban centres to the tranquility of remote natural environments, and the sonic stories of young motherhood across South-East Asia.

Sonik Ekologies is a 30 minute listening experience that occurs on the hour. Each listening session opens with a traditional Javanese Jamu herbal drink, known for its immune boosting and grounding properties.

Audiences are encouraged to take off their shoes, leaving behind the outside world as they step into a carefully prepared, intimate space. The session unfolds with sounds from distinguished composers from Southeast Asia, whose commissioned works guide listeners on a unique auditory journey, equal parts cultural heritage with experimental soundscapes.
